Sull's Custom Windows XP CD Creator for UX v1.1
[Updated: 3/6/08]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Sull's Custom Windows XP CD Creator for UX will enable you to make your own Windows XP instillation CD which has all of the drivers and applications needed to run your UX. In a sense, this guide will help you create a one-time instillation, bloat-free Windows XP CD which will run your UX with no need to install additional drivers or software. The process takes approximately 7 - 10 minutes to complete. Check out the quick video tutorial below !!!
---------------------------------------
You will need the following:
---------------------------------------1) Your own Windows XP CD SP2 or higher, an ISO will do fine also.
2) A computer with a working CD burner.
3) Sull's Integration Pack v1.0, download link below.
4) You must have .Net Framework 2.0 installed on the computer that you will be using to create the custom XP CD. If you do not, please use the silent installer contained within Sull's Integration Pack to install .Net Framework 2.0.------------------
Instructions:
------------------1) Copy all the files on your Windows XP CD into a folder on your computer, name this folder "UX_XP".
2) In Sull's Integration Pack v1.0, you will see a file named "WINNT.SIF" copy it to the i386 folder, which is located in the files you just copied into "UX_XP".
3) Copy the "$OEM$" distribution folder located in Sull's Integration Pack into "UX_XP".
4) If you would like your installation to fit on a CD, you are going to have to cut out some useless drivers, now go to the folder "nLite" and double click "nlite.exe". When nLite opens press next, now you are going to browse to the location of "UX_XP" ( circled in red below ) and press next, now it will load your installation, press next again for the preset screen, you should see one preset called "last session" select it and press the load button ( circled in red below ).
5) Once it has loaded you can either continue pressing next until you are prompted with the "Do you want to start the process ?" window or play around with nLite some more. If you are not familiar how to use nLite I would suggest you to start the process.
6) Once nLite has finished you can leave it open while we finish the other steps, we will be using nLite to recreate an ISO from your installation files.
7) Open the folder "DPs BASE & Driver Packs" it is located in Sull's pack under "SOFTWARE" double click "DPs_BASE.exe" when the program has opened, browse to your source files = "UX_XP" folder, press the next arrow and select the two drivers packs (see image below), all other settings you can leave as default, now you can press the "Slipstream" button and wait for the driver integration to finish.
8) Just to confirm everything is in the right order, open your "WINNT.SIF" file in notepad it is located in "UX_CDi386" scroll to the bottom and confirm that the command in green is the first line under [GuiRunOnce] and the command in yellow is the last line under [GuiRunOnce], this just makes sure the driver pack finisher does what it needs to do before starting to install the applications.Code:[GuiRunOnce] command9="%SystemDrive%DPsFnshr.exe" "%SystemRoot%System32 Lite.cmd" "%Systemdrive%InstallRunOnceEX.cmd"9) Now you can go back to your nLite window, give your Custom UX Windows XP CD a Label ( circled in red below ), and then hit the "Make ISO" button ( circled in red below ), choose a location for nLite to save the ISO, you are now done with nLite.
10) You can now burn the ISO you created to a 700mb CD, please do a slow burn at 4x, if your burning program can not go that low, I have included a free program "imgburn" located in the SOFTWARE folder in Sull's Integration Pack.
11) You are almost ready to install your Custom Windows XP CD, I would suggest when you install this CD to keep your UX out of the dock so you do not have any problems, I have been unsuccessful more than I have been successful when the UX is docked.
Preview of what the installation looks like when installing...
( Top ) Driver packs being extracted at the beginning of the setup. ( Middle ) Sony applications & select drivers being installed by RunOnceEX, this takes place right before Windows boots for the first time. ( Bottom ) When Windows boots for the first time you will see this CMD window, it cleans up and reboots your UX.Instruction video can be found HERE.
